Increasing risk of bankruptcy

According to Hungarian companies, the number of bankrupt businesses will slightly rise this year as well, following an all-time high of last year. They expect a particularly strong wave of bankruptcies in trade and in vehicle trade, as well as in agriculture and in collective services. 

 

The situation after the final payback of FX loans

According to the figures of the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority, with the final payback of FX loans in one instalment at a fixed exchange rate, 160 thousand contracts with a total amount of more than HUF1200 billion at market rate were closed down.

According to the survey of GKI made in January, the number of undertakings reckoning with increasing sales revenues exceeds those expecting decreasing ones. In terms of the number of employees and investments, those anticipating contraction are in majority.

Who is better? The Hungarians?

“The EU doesn't assist member countries in overcoming the economic slump because it punishes those who behave well and rewards those who perform poorly,” said the Hungarian prime minister at a last week’s event, adding that “with this kind of mentality one couldn't even run a village five and ten cent store.” By this he referred to the unfairness of threatening Hungary by withdrawing part of the cohesion funds as of 2013.

Measurement of Innovation Activity at Hungarian Companies

The Hungarian companies adapted themselves to the changing conditions – they survived changes of the market and owners –, they kept regenerating, growing, and at the same time, they cut back the former research institutions, departments and they didn’t even make use of the knowledge of the existing research yards. For this reason, Hungarian enterprises are not considered to be innovative. The suspicion that one reason for this contradiction is that the different participants do not agree in the interpretation of innovation, arises inevitably.
