Increasing risk of bankruptcy

According to Hungarian companies, the number of bankrupt businesses will slightly rise this year as well, following an all-time high of last year. They expect a particularly strong wave of bankruptcies in trade and in vehicle trade, as well as in agriculture and in collective services. 

 

The situation after the final payback of FX loans

According to the figures of the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority, with the final payback of FX loans in one instalment at a fixed exchange rate, 160 thousand contracts with a total amount of more than HUF1200 billion at market rate were closed down.

According to the survey of GKI made in January, the number of undertakings reckoning with increasing sales revenues exceeds those expecting decreasing ones. In terms of the number of employees and investments, those anticipating contraction are in majority.

The analysis of e-commerce solutions for designation of directions of bank's product development

In the study we made an overview on the areas of the designated model, which formed the foundation of the empirical analysis of the databases of the domestic e-shops. We dealt with the fundamental factors of the structure of websites, and we examined which functions a successful webstore should dispose of. Finally, we summarized the possibilities regarding webshops for the banks.

The examination of rail access of the Záhony logistics area from the view of competition

GKI Economic Research Co. analysed the access to the rail infrastructure from the view of a competition in the Záhony logistics area. The research was commissioned by the National Transport Authority (NKH). We made an over review on the previous relevant studies and reports, we analysed the most important rail-related changes, the actual challenges and the international legal background of border crossing and related services.

The market potential of environmental awareness for MÁV Cargo Ltd.

GKI Economic Research Co. conducted an analysis commissioned by MÁV Cargo Ltd. in order to assess what kind of market potential the strengthening of environmental awareness could represent for the company. In the report we examined the commitment to environmental protection of domestic enterprises and the most significant effects of the EU's climate strategy regarding rail transportation were identified. We analysed the environmental preferences of the partners of MÁV Cargo Ltd., and we made an overview on the green practices of some rail companies and other big non-rail firms as well as the related (domestic and foreign) possibilities for cooperation among them.

International practice and proposals for long-term agreements between the state and rail companies

GKI Economic Research Co. conducted an analysis commissioned by the National Transport Authority (NKH) about European practices of long-term contracts between the state and rail companies and their most important experience with implications for Hungarian contracts. Furthermore, due to interviews with stakeholders we could introduce numerous elements of provider-focused rail approach.

Differences in determining tariffs among the Hungarian transmission system operators and provider licence owners

We examined the transparency, reliability and relevance of the factors that are determined by law and applied in charge calculation formulas. We analysed interdependencies between tariff determination and corporate costs, investments and ownership relations using the guidelines of the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office (MeH), publications, public data sources and corporate tax data of the Hungarian Tax and Financial Control Administration (APEH).
